Part of our DNA.
Accessibility.

Straight talk

Just Social is for everyone. Thanks to its modular structure and clean design, it is particularly easy to use. As a result, Just Social is used inclusively in many workshops for people with disabilities, ranging from FSD Lwerk and the Berliner Werkstätten für Menschen mit Behinderung (BWB) to Lebenshilfe Braunschweig.

Furthermore, accessibility is an integral part of our development process, from initial concept and technical implementation to testing. In addition, we have Just Social regularly audited by external experts to identify further potential for improvement.

We adhere to the requirements of BITV 2.0 and WCAG 2.2 AA, which we already cover almost entirely in all views relevant to reading users. With our integrated text-to-speech function, we even offer features that go beyond legal requirements.

Our customers' editors and admins are responsible for the accessible design of Just Social (e.g., high-contrast color choices) and its content (e.g., alternative text for images). Admin and editorial functions are currently only partially accessible, but we are also incorporating BITV 2.0 and WCAG 2.2 AA standards into our development process here to continuously improve accessibility.

If you have feedback regarding accessibility in Just Social, we look forward to hearing from you (support@just.social). Thank you for your support!

Best regards from St. Pauli,
Your Just Social team

Accessibility:
Features

Keyboard accessibility

In Just Social, clickable and interactive elements can also be accessed using the keyboard. The navigation order is always logical, and you can see where you are at all times, making the platform easy to use even without a mouse.

Scalable text

Text remains easy to read even when font sizes are increased. No important information is lost, and usability is not unnecessarily compromised, allowing everyone to adjust the display to their own needs.

Text-to-speech function

Just Social features a browser-based text-to-speech function in the News and Wiki modules. This feature is available by default at no extra cost, with no need to install external screen reader software.

Screen reader support

Just Social also supports external screen readers. Content and features are built to be reliably detected and clearly read aloud by screen readers. We test with tools such as NVDA and VoiceOver.

HTML & heading structure

The HTML in Just Social is structured semantically, ensuring that content can be correctly interpreted and understood. Headings follow a logical order, which significantly improves navigation throughout the site.

Forms & error messages

Form elements in Just Social are clearly labeled, making it immediately obvious what information is required and where. If information is missing or incorrect, clear error messages help you identify and fix the problem.

Alternative text

In Just Social, text, icons, and controls stand out clearly from the background. Even smaller text and disabled elements are designed with high contrast when they convey relevant information, ensuring that important content remains easy to read.

Usable without color

Just Social is easy and intuitive to use, even for those with color vision deficiencies or color blindness. For this reason, links in news, wiki, and chat texts are not only color-coded but also underlined.

No flickering

Just Social avoids flickering, flashing, and heavily animated content to minimize health risks such as headaches and epileptic seizures, even for sensitive users.

Sufficient color contrast

The default colors for text and graphical interface elements (e.g., icons, forms) in Just Social meet WCAG requirements for color contrast.

Marking decorative elements

Decorative elements such as images, avatars, or icons in Just Social are marked in a way that ensures they do not distract or disrupt users or screen readers with irrelevant information.
